A month later…
Vikram packs his bags and a 12-year-old Khushi comes down carrying her one month old brother Rohan. Rajeev comes to bid the family goodbye as they are going to shift to Mumbai forever.
“It’s sad that you are leaving Vikram. After Kasturi’s death, I can understand what you and your family is going through but leaving isn’t an option. Till now the police have not found any evidence of the criminal and they don’t even know the motive of murder.” Rajeev says.
“I don’t know who did this Rajeev but now for me, my children’s safety is much more important. I have been receving threatening letters after that incident and that person has threatened to kill my daughter and son. I can't lose them.” Vikram says.
“But I'm here for you Vikram. I promise that till I'm alive, I won't let anything to happen to your family.” Rajeev tries to convince Vikram to stay.
“I know Rajeev that you're a very good police officer and definitely you'll try your best to protect us...But now I feel that it's best to leave this place. I'm quite disturbed now. I’ll see you later Rajeev.” Vikram bids goodbye and enters the train with his kids.
10 years pass by...
"Papa, I'm absolutely fine here in the hostel. Why do you keep worrying about my health all the time? Ikeep getting worried about your health as I'm not there to give you the medicines and I know as usual you will forget to take your BP tablets. Today also you dint take them right?" Khushi says while packing her bag.
Vikram closes his eyes thinking that Khushi understands him very well and he gives an excuse and says "I remembered to take my medicine and after calling you, I was going to eat them only after calling you."
"Papa...Now don't tell lies. I know you forgot to eat them. Now after putting down the receiver, first go and have your tablets I'm leaving for my classes now and will talk to you later."
"Bye Khushi. Take care." Vikram puts down the phone and thinks "Should I have informed her about the letter? No. Her exams are coming close and I don't want to make her tensed now I'm sure she'll be safe there and I will wait for this month to pass and her to be back home."
Khushi walks downstairs and notices Prem approaching her. "Hi Khushi. Good morning." Prem wishes her and she says calmly "Good morning."
"Today you're look really pretty." Khushi smiles and leaves saying "Thanks."
"Hey hey...Khushi...I was saying that don't break this friendship. I certainly don't want to lose my friend because of my feelings for you." Prem requests Khushi.
"I understand Prem and even I respect you feelings...But now our friendship will not have that same essence it had earlier. I will feel uncomfortable at times and..." Prem cuts her and says "No Khushi. I promise that I won't ever make you feel uncomfortable due to my feelings. I'll be a good friend. Only a friend." Prem promises her by taking her hand in his. She releases her hand and says "OK Prem. If you are saying so. I need to attend my classes as it's already started now. Will meet you in the break." She smiles and leaves.
Khushi attends her classes and notes down the information from the board in her notebook. While writing, she notices a boy walking outside the class room and looking a bit tensed.
The boy walks inside the class room and asks the professor in a low voice to come inside the class. The professor turns to his right and looks at his watch. "You're 10 minutes late boy."
The boy looks down and says "Sorry sir. I reached college 30 minutes back but it took me time to find this classroom. This is my first day here and I am very sorry for being late."
The professor says "OK fine. Since it's your first day, come inside. But remember from tomorrow, you have to be here on time." The boys nods his head and the professor asks him his name to which he answers "Arnav."
